LIPS
Big Red Juicy was designed on a 24x36 inch canvas, and plays on pop-art lip-biting narratives. This piece comprises about 12,000 Swarovski rhinestones and was particularly inspired by Whitney’s love of teeth and smiles as an orthodontist. It was a natural union of creative and artistic passions.
BLASTOCYST
This piece is on a 24x24 inch canvas, and was commissioned for a fertility doctor.
“Designed and crafted with love, this work represents hope, scientific progress and growth. It is intricate and precise, much like the blastocyst it depicts. A blastocyst is an embryo that has developed five days after fertilization between a sperm cell and egg cell. As a fertility doctor, I deeply appreciate that the development of a blastocyst is an important milestone in the treatment of people seeking reproductive and fertility care.
The contrasting colors represent the different parts of the blastocyst. For the outer trophectoderm, red and silver; for the inner cell mass, in gold, and represents a treasured embryo.”
STARS & STRIPES
This smaller piece measures 12x12 inches, and with similar pop-art lip art features. It was fabricated during and inspired by the 2020 election.
BABY BEAR
Baby bear also measures 12x12 inches, and is a portrait made in celebration of Whitney’s 18 month old son, Asher Bear.
MR. LION
Measuring 24x24 inches, Mr. Lion is what sparked this journey. Mr. Lion was inspired by a piece Whitney saw at an art fair in NYC in 2017 by an Italian artist Roberta Diazzi. She was immediately fixated and mesmerized. Reigniting her passion for working with Swarovski crystals, Whitney was determined to recreate the piece as a personal project and challenge. Creating Mr. Lion ended Whitney’s 15-year hiatus in creating Swarovski art and launched her into a newfound sparkly world.
