ABOUT THE ARTIST

Whitney Mostafiz-Levinson is an artist and Board-Certified Orthodontist based in New York City. Click here to review Whitney's orthodontic professional bio and practice. SPARKLEHOP was proudly founded on New Years Day 2021.

Whitney has been creating sparkling creations for almost 20 years using Swarovski crystals. Each piece is hand-made, and both mentally and physically demanding. The end result is bold, fun and full of light, and reflects pop art stylistic elements. She loves the interactive 3-dimensional component of her pieces: the art is always evolving and changing depending on lighting, time of day and positioning.

Whitney studied human biology and fine art at Brown University, receiving her Bachelor's degree with honors. Her Senior year art exhibit, Chew on This, merged her two passions of art and dentistry via mixed media (ink, drawings, silkscreen prints). Her photographs and drawings were published in several editions of Paper & Pixel as well as Rust and Lace while in university, as well. She orchestrated a photo installation entitled Path of the Pipe which investigated the social impact of the oil industry in urban and indigenous regions of Ecuador. Lastly while at Brown, a silkscreen print and collage were accepted to a Juried Show in her Senior year.

Following, Whitney completed her dental school and orthodontic residency trainings at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the University of Illinois, Chicago, respectively. She has always intertwined her interests in healthcare and art, and completed an elective at Harvard Medical School and the Boston Museum of Fine Art and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Training the Eye: The Art of the Physical Diagnosis.

When Whitney is not creating Swarovski pieces or designing esthetic smiles, she enjoys other artistic media including drawing, painting, digital design, collage and jewelry-making. She maintains a wellness-inspired lifestyle and resides in New York City with her growing family.
